Trapp was acquired by Inter Miami in January 2020 in a trade with Columbus Crew SC. The U.S. Men's National Team player was named an MLS All-Star in 2016, reached the 2015 MLS Cup final and was named the 2013 U.S. Soccer Young Male Athlete of the Year.
The deep-lying midfielder represented Columbus Crew SC for seven seasons. He made his professional debut for the club in 2013 at 20 years old. In total, Trapp made 204 appearances for the team, registering two goals and 13 assists. In his seven seasons with Columbus, he helped guide the team to the playoffs four times.
Since 2018, Trapp has been an active member of the U.S. Men’s National Team. The midfielder has made 18 appearances for the team since January 2018, appearing in the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup and international friendlies.
He originally made his debut for the senior team in 2015, appearing in friendly against Chile. His second international appearance came a year later in an international friendly against Canada.
At the youth level, Trapp represented the U.S. U-18, U-20 and U-23 teams. Notably, he appeared in both the 2013 Concacaf U-20 Championship and the 2013 U-20 FIFA World Cup. The team finished as runners-up in the 2013 Concacaf U-20 Championship as Trapp played all 120 minutes of the final.
