Dylan Nealis wins Georgetown award

On the afternoon of Wednesday, May 13, Inter Miami rookie defender Dylan Nealis was announced as the winner of Georgetown University’s Outstanding Achievement by a Male Athlete Award for the 2019-2020 year.


Nealis spent the 2019 season with the Georgetown University Hoyas prior to being selected by Inter Miami with the third-overall pick in the 2020 Major League Soccer SuperDraft. A two-year captain for the Hoyas, his senior season at the university was marked by countless achievements.


The right back led the Hoyas to the 2019 NCAA National Championship, while also collecting numerous individual awards, including being named the College Cup's Defensive Most Outstanding Player, being a MAC Hermann Trophy finalist, winning Big East Defensive Player of the Year, and being named to the All-Big East First Team and the United Soccer Coaches All-America First Team.


In 2019, the Massapequa, NY., native, started all 24 games for the Hoyas, scoring four goals, dishing out five assists and helping the defense to 13 shutouts for the season. 


Nealis’ Georgetown’s men’s soccer team staff was also recognized by the university’s athletic department, winning the Outstanding Coaching Achievement Award.
