The Inter Miami CF Academy is set to participate in the MLS Academy FIFA 2020 Tournament which will be held from June 12 to June 23. The virtual tournament will feature 17 MLS clubs, each of which will have one player competing.

Inter Miami will be represented by Justin Ellis, 13, who won a play-in tournament between four players from the Club for the opportunity to compete against academy players from across MLS.

The tournament will begin with group stage play, with Inter Miami set to face off against the Portland Timbers on June 12, Austin FC on June 14, and the New York Red Bulls on June 16. After the three group stage matches are completed, the top two finishers in each group will qualify for the knockout rounds; the Quarterfinals will take place on June 19, the Semifinals on June 21, and the Finals on June 23.

Players will compete on 85 rated squad mode, meaning all virtual teams used will be rated equally as to avoid creating a competitive advantage.

Ellis played for the Inter Miami U-13 team last season, appearing in 12 U.S. Soccer Development Academy games. The 2007-born forward led the team with 16 goals scored in league play.
