With Inter Miami’s first playoff match just one week away, forward Juan Agudelo joined Onside Radio to discuss the Club’s historic first season in the league. Agudelo highlighted unconditional support from the team’s loyal fans throughout an eventful inaugural regular season for Inter Miami and how the players want to make them proud in the playoffs.

“Our fans were outside in the street like a block away from the stadium during the games with no fans in the stadium, they were there during the whole game and couldn’t really watch the game. We’re very grateful for their support,” he said.

“We think a lot about what the fans think, and after games we sometimes feel very upset that we let them down. We know every single one of us can be better, and there is no better time to be better than a playoff game and go on a run,” he added.

The versatile attacker then noted the incredible support from fans on Decision Day as Inter Miami overcame FC Cincinnati 2-1 to make history as just the seventh MLS franchise to clinch a spot in the playoffs in its inaugural campaign.

“It’s pretty wild, I’ve never seen anything like it in my career, where it’s a hurricane with 30 mph winds, it’s cold and the fans are in the stadium jumping without their shirts on the entire game. It’s even tough to play in those conditions and I can’t even imagine how it would be to be cold and be watching a game like that. It’s pretty special to have them there and for them to stick around for our celebration,” Agudelo stated. “It just goes to show the amount of passion and support that South Florida can have for Inter Miami.”

To close out, Agudelo also mentioned the team’s momentum as a key component ahead of the team’s fixture against fellow expansion side Nashville SC in the first round of the Audi 2020 MLS Cup Playoffs and analyzed the matchup.

“From my experience in this league, the teams that are on highs going into the playoffs are the teams that make it the furthest.

“Nashville is a very good defensive side. It’s going to be tough to score. We just have to finish our chances; they’re not going to give us too many, but once we can get our head or foot on it and can go up 1-0 so that we can feel more comfortable in the game, that’s going to be key,” he concluded.

Tune in to watch Inter Miami’s historic first playoff match in Club history, when the team faces Nashville SC on Friday, Nov. 20, at Nissan Stadium. The game is set to kick off at 9 p.m. ET and will air live on ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes.
