MATCH PREVIEW: Fort Lauderdale CF to Host FC Tucson on Sunday 05.14.21

Fort Lauderdale CF will host FC Tucson on Sunday, May 16. The match at DRV PNK Stadium is set to kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET and will air live on ESPN+.

“Tucson is comfortable in possession so that will be a challenge for our players. They’re a good team, well coached, well put together and our guys know we need to be ready,” said Fort Lauderdale CF head coach Darren Powell. “We need to be ready to compete and continue to improve on the standards that we’ve already set.”

Fort Lauderdale will seek to bounce back after a hard-fought 0-2 loss at home against USL League One 2020 runners-up Union Omaha in the team’s last match.

It will be the third matchup between the two teams, as Fort Lauderdale faced Tucson twice in the team’s inaugural campaign in 2020, with one win apiece for each side.

Tucson comes into this weekend’s contest following a 1-1 draw at home against Forward Madison FC in the team’s last match. So far in 2021, Tucson has recorded a loss and a draw, with winger Deri Corfe and forward Shak Adams leading the side with one goal each so far this campaign.

Mitch Curry Cleared to Play

Fort Lauderdale forward Mitch Curry, who was signed from English side Sunderland AFC ahead of the 2021 USL League One season, has received his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and will be eligible to make his debut for the team.
