Heron Talk presented by Gallagher

Inter Miami returns to DRV PNK Stadium for a two-game week beginning on Wednesday, Oct. 20 at 7:30 p.m. ET when the team faces Toronto FC after playing a month of games on the road.

As the team looks to bounce back with the regular season nearing its end, defender Sami Guediri shared the message that head coach Phil Neville gave the squad ahead of the upcoming matches.

“Just keep going, we are still mathematically in there so we gotta keep pushing till the end,” said Guediri.

With the team back in South Florida, the 24-year-old fullback shared his excitement about being able to play at home again, hoping to put on a good performance for the fans.

“We’ve been away from home for a while now so everyone is super excited to get back in front of the fans and work hard. We can’t wait to put on a good performance,” said Guediri.

The Boca Raton, Florida native Guediri, who signed from the Club’s USL League One affiliate Fort Lauderdale CF in April of this year, also reflected on his strong performance in his second start of the campaign and his growth since the beginning of the 2021 MLS season.

“It’s my first year in the league so there was definitely that adaptation period but through the help of most of the guys on the team, the coaching staff, they’ve helped me grow on the team and now is just a result of that.”

Head coach Phil Neville recognized Guediri for his strong work ethic during the season and what he hopes to see from the defender before this season is over. “He had a really good preseason, caught my eye and made an impact. We then brought him into the MLS roster and deservedly so,” said Neville. “He’s a great kid, someone that wants to do well. He’s at the stage of his career where he has to be playing regularly to get that rhythm, to get that fitness, to get that sharpness, to get that consistency and hopefully, he can get that in the next five games.”

Wednesday night’s match against Toronto FC will be broadcast regionally on My33, CW34, UniMás and the Inter Miami App. Tickets for the match can be found here.
