Heron Talk presented by Gallagher

Inter Miami will continue its country-wide travels on Sunday when they visit Providence Park to take on the Portland Timbers in the Club’s first-ever encounter with the Timbers.

Defender Leandro González Pirez continues to have faith in the team and believes that as long as everyone focuses and sticks to what they set out for themselves, positive results will certainly follow.

“We know we need to continue to have trust in what we are doing, trust in the way in which we are working, and know that we will climb back and once again focus on what we want and go back to earning important results,” said LGP.

“We are a compact team, when we are coordinated and prepared, we become a difficult team to beat.”

With three more consecutive games on the road, LGP believes that the team is bonding more due to the extended time the squad gets to spend together, improving their overall chemistry as a result.

“We had a positive reaction and nowadays, with the amount of travel that we’ve had, including the time we’ve been spending together as a result, we are getting to know each other better and that is very important for us. We had a great night last night, everyone together had a fantastic time, and we woke up better today. It seems to me that the team is doing well emotionally.”

Head coach Phil Neville also praised his squad’s unity and mentality following their match against Atlanta United.

“I feel as if the squad is probably in really good shape because they took a lot of confidence from the game Wednesday night. We know the areas we need to keep improving on,” said Neville.

“If we play at the level that we did against Atlanta in the remaining eight games, then I think we got a great chance of qualifying for the playoffs… The players know that the level that we’ve set is high.”

As the team’s mentality and unity continue to improve, LGP is confident that the squad will capitalize on their remaining games to get the points necessary to be successful.

“We are in a situation where we need to get the points and we will try to get them with our plan and our mentality,” he concluded.
