MIAMI (August 15, 2019) — Inter Miami CF’s U17-18 team fell 1-2 in their third group-stage match of the K League U-17 Championship Tournament against Daejon in Pohang, South Korea.
The lineup chosen by Senior Academy Director Jason Kreis followed a 4-3-3 formation, as he had utilized in both prior matches. Goalkeeper Mauricio Uribe started his second game in net with the defensive unit composed of Jason Bucknor, Kai Thomas, Ian Fray and Noah Allen. The midfield took shape with Edison Azcona, Francisco Raggio, and Andres Torrealba who wore the captain’s armband. Up top, the attacking trio was led by Andres Cardenas, Alexander Lozano, and Brian Hernandez.
Inter Miami CF conceded just before halftime when the South Korean side took the lead in the 40th+3 minute. A stronger second half saw the Miami side equalize in the 52nd minute when Raggio’s cross into the box setup Azcona for a header. The comeback for the Academy side seemed likely until the final minute of stoppage time when the local side scored the game-winner off a penalty kick.
Inter Miami CF will play its final group stage match on Saturday, Aug. 17, against Pohang in the 2019 K League U-17 Championship Tournament.
