Academy Recap & Results: #ICCFutures Day Two vs. Shanghai Football Team

Inter Miami ICC Futures XI vs Shanghai

The Inter Miami CF Academy U-14 team continued International Champions Cup Futures play with a match against Shanghai Football Team.

The 4:00 p.m. ET kickoff represented the third and final group stage game of the tournament for the Club.

Inter Miami lined up with an initial XI of Angel Fernandez; Milo Parquet, Tyler Hall, Fernando Sanchez, Jose Escobar; Axel Perez, Lucas De Paula, Miles Perkovich; Wladimir Francis, Juan Quevedo, and Eduardo Rojas.

Shanghai went ahead with a 26th minute goal and held the 1-0 lead through the final whistle.

“I think the guys are going to learn from it,” said U-14 Head Coach John Deeley. “I think they have a good mentality and they worked extremely hard. I think the fact that they were so disappointed after the game in the end is a good thing. It shows a competitive fire.”

The group stage results qualified Inter Miami for the Trophy bracket. The team will continue to develop its future stars through ICC Futures play Saturday, December 14, at 11:30 a.m. ET in a single-elimination game against Juventus FC.

The Inter Miami Academy is comprised of 160 youth players from South Florida, playing across six age groups from 12 to 19. The U-14s, who are in the ICC Futures Tournament, have gone undefeated in U.S. Soccer Development Academy league play to this point.

The Academy is fully funded by the organization and aims to recruit and develop talented players, providing them with the best opportunities to continue advancing to the highest levels of the sport.
