MIAMI, Fla. (March 12, 2020) – Inter Miami CF will make its long-awaited home debut this Saturday, March 14, at Inter Miami CF Stadium in a match against the five-time MLS Cup champion LA Galaxy. The match will be nationally televised at 2:30 p.m. ET on FOX. The full 18,000-capacity stadium is sold out for the match.

The match marks top-flight soccer’s return to South Florida. Inter Miami officially began Major League Soccer play with two away matches, the first on Sunday, March 1, against Los Angeles FC, and the second on Saturday, March 7, against D.C. United.

Inter Miami’s second home match saw them line up with an XI of Luis Robles; Dylan Nealis, Andrés Reyes, Román Torres, Nicolás Figal, Ben Sweat; Victor Ulloa, Wil Trapp, Lewis Morgan, Rodolfo Pizarro; and Robbie Robinson. The team also subbed on Juan Agudelo and Matías Pellegrini. Román Torres will miss the next match as a result of a red card received against D.C. United.

The LA Galaxy will serve as the first visiting opponent in Inter Miami CF Stadium history on Saturday. The team was also the home of Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham during his playing days. He signed for the club in 2007 and played his final match for it in 2012.

Los Angeles is coming off of a 1-0 home loss to Vancouver Whitecaps FC; the team will be without midfielder Joe Corona in Miami as a result of a red card received in that match. The Galaxy’s first match of the season ended in a 1-1 draw at BBVA Stadium against the Houston Dynamo.

The 2019 season was a strong one for the LA Galaxy. The team finished fifth in the Western Conference and advanced to the Conference Semifinals in the playoffs after a 2-1 first-round victory over Minnesota United FC. The Galaxy went on to lose in a 5-3 thriller against cross-town rivals LAFC in the next round.

Leading-man Zlatan Ibrahimovic departed the club in the winter after scoring 30 regular-season goals in 2019, the second-most in MLS. He was replaced by Mexican international Designated Player Javier “Chicharito” Hernández. The potent goal-scoring forward has started both of the team’s games in 2020.
