Major League Soccer announced today an update to the competition format of the MLS is Back Tournament, as the top three teams in Group A, which features Inter Miami, will now advance to the knockout rounds alongside the top two teams from Groups B-F and the next three best teams across all groups.

The updated competition structure levels the playing field between Group A, the group of six, and Groups B-F, each of which contains four teams. The change means that each group will now be guaranteed to advance at least 50% of its teams, whereas prior to the change Group A was only guaranteed to advance 33% of its teams while Groups B-F would advance at least 50%.

Inter Miami was placed in Group A where it will face Orlando City SC, Chicago Fire FC, and the Philadelphia Union in its group stage matches. The group also includes New York City FC and Nashville SC, though Inter Miami will not face either team. As many as four teams can advance from the group.

Along with the news of the competition update, MLS also released schedule and broadcast details for our group stage matches today.
