Over the past week, the Inter Miami CF Academy presented by Baptist Health was in action at the highly anticipated 2024 Generation adidas Cup that took place at IMG Academies in Bradenton, Fla. from March 30 through April 7. The premier international youth competition showcased talent from every MLS academy alongside representatives from an unprecedented 49 club academies hailing from a remarkable 15 countries across four continents, with Inter Miami’s U-15 and U-17 teams representing the Club.

Our Academy’s U-15 side topped its group in Group Play prior to the team’s run to the quarterfinals - where they fell to the eventual champions - in the single-elimination championship bracket, while our U-17s finished third in Group Play before going all the way and winning the competition’s consolation bracket. Let’s dive into the team’s results at the 2024 Generation adidas Cup below.

U-15

Inter Miami’s U-15s kicked off the 2024 Generation adidas Cup with a bang on March 30, earning a 0-1 win over FC Dallas in its first match in Group Play.

The team then followed up with a hard fought 1-1 draw against Belgian slide KRC Genk on March 31, with the team claiming the extra point in the game by winning the subsequent penalty shootout 4-2 to secure two crucial points.

Our U-15 boys then wrapped up Group Play on April 1 with a 1-0 win over the Philadelphia Union to finish first in Group I with a total eight points from two wins and a draw, and advanced to the single-elimination championship bracket of the competition.

Next, the team earned a huge 2-0 win over Atlanta United in the Round of 16 on April 4 to clinch the team’s quarterfinals berth.

Despite a strong performance, our Academy’s U-15 side would ultimately fall 2-0 to eventual U-15 2024 Generation adidas Cup champions Valencia CF in a closely contested quarterfinals matchup on April 5.

U-17

The Academy’s U-17 side also began Group Play with a big win, defeating Colombian outfit Atlético Nacional 1-0 on March 30.

The team then fell 1-0 against Sporting Kansas City on March 31 and 0-1 against Real Salt Lake on April 1 and finished third in Group B, going on to compete in the consolation bracket  of the competition afterwards.

Inter Miami’s U-17s would then go all the way to win the 2024 Generation adidas Cup consolation bracket in their respective category. The team made its way to the win in the consolation bracket by topping Columbus Crew 1-2 in the Round of 16 on April 4, defeating the Seattle Sounders 5-4 in penalties after a 1-1 draw in regulation in the quarterfinals on April 5, winning 2-3 against the New England Revolution in semifinals on April 6, and defeating LAFC 0-1 in the final on April 7.
