The Inter Miami CF Academy presented by Baptist Health recently represented the Club at the 2023 Easter International Cup in Orlando, Florida from April 5 to 9. The tournament that featured over 30 international teams and more than 250 teams from across the nation provided valuable competitive experience for our U-12, U-13 and U-14 sides, with the U-13 and U-14 boys winning division titles to add two more pieces of silverware to the Academy’s trophy cabinet.
U-12
The Academy’s U-12 team collected two wins from its three group stage matches in the tournament, defeating Virginia Soccer Association 0-1 and Juventus Academy Boston 3-1, to finish second in Bracket A with 6 points to advance to the U-12 silver division semifinals. The team then topped NEFC 0-1 before narrowly falling 2-1 in the silver division final against the Soccer Association of Columbia to close out a strong 2023 Easter International Cup participation for our Academy’s U-12 boys.
U-13
Our U-13 team excelled in Orlando, finishing the competition undefeated and claiming the U-13 category gold division title. The team defeated Wake FC 2-0 and FC Delco 0-1 and drew 0-0 against Mexican side Club Tijuana Xoloitxcuintles to finish top of its group in the group phase with 7 points before eliminating Real Salt Lake in the semifinals with a 2-1 win and topping Atlanta United FC 3-2 in the final to be crowned as the U-13 gold division champion.
U-14
The Academy’s eldest age group in the competition followed suit and also collected some silverware to bring back to South Florida. Our Academy’s U-14 side recorded a 3-2 win over Mexican team Dorados Sinaloa, a goalless draw against Atlanta United FC and fell 0-1 to Pipeline Soccer Club in the group stage to finish second in its group with 4 points. In the knockout stages of the 2023 Easter International Cup, the team dispatched Real Salt Lake with a 2-1 win in semifinals before defeating Atlanta United FC 2-0 in the final to clinch the U-14 silver division crown.
