Inter Miami CF Academy player Nicholas Almeida has been called up by the U.S. U-16 MYNT for a training camp. The team led by head coach Michael Nsien is set to train at the Hillsborough County Tournament Complex in Tampa, Fla. from Jan. 4 to 13.

Players born on or after Jan. 1, 2007 are age-eligible for this U-16 MYNT cycle. All 23 players were born in 2007 and are age-eligible for the upcoming Concacaf U-17 Championship in Guatemala.

Almeida has previously gained experience at the international level, with this call up being his third since joining the Club’s Academy. Most recently, the Inter Miami Academy U-17 defender was summoned for the Football Federations Cup U-16 in Albir, Spain that took place Nov. 16-28, tournament in which the USA recorded victories over Wales and England.

Last year, Almeida capped off a spectacular 2022 season in which he was an integral member of the team as the Inter Miami Academy U-15 side became national champions by claiming the MLS NEXT Cup title.

Almeida is among a growing list of current and former Inter Miami CF Academy players to be called up to a national team, including: Noah Allen, Tyler Austin, Edison Azcona, Logan Batiste, Israel Boatwright, Benjamin Cremaschi, Justin Ellis, Tyler Hall, Santiago Morales and Felipe Valencia, among others.
