Inter Miami CF defender/midfielder Christian Makoun has been called up to the Venezuelan National Team for its upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifying matches.Â
The 21-year-old will join La Vinotinto after Sunday’s match against the New England Revolution. First, Venezuela will visit Ecuador on Thursday, Nov. 11 at 4 p.m. ET at the Estadio Rodrigo Paz Delgado in Quito, Ecuador. In the following days, the team will host Peru on Tuesday, Nov. 16 at 6 p.m. ET at the Estadio OlĂmpico de la UCV in Caracas, Venezuela.
Makoun has been a key player for Inter Miami this season, registering 25 appearances, 22 of them starts, and scoring two goals, both against Toronto FC on Sept. 14 and Oct. 20, respectively -Â earning MLS Team of the Week honors on week 25 and week 31. He has registered 23 appearances for the Venezuelan youth national teams and he was captain for the team in the 2019 U-20 South American Championship. Makoun could make his debut for the Venezuelan senior national team in his second-ever callup.
