Called Up: David Ruiz Called Up to Honduras U-20 National Team

Inter Miami CF II midfielder and Academy product David Ruiz has been called up to the Honduras U-20 national team for a camp in preparation for the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup. The camp will run through April 14 in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.

Ruiz, 19, has previously featured for both Honduras and the United States at the youth international levels. In January, Ruiz was called up to the U.S. U-19 MYNT for a training camp at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Fla.

At the Club level, Ruiz made his MLS debut this season, featuring for the First Team against Chicago Fire FC at DRV PNK Stadium in March while on a short-term loan agreement from the Club’s MLS NEXT Pro side. 

With Inter Miami CF II, Ruiz has made three appearances this season, two of them starts. In 2022, he made 16 appearances, 13 of them as a starter, and registered two assists. 

Beginning in May, the Honduras U-20 national team will participate in the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup, the 23rd edition of the tournament. 

Ruiz is among a growing list of current and former Inter Miami CF Academy players to be called up to a national team, including: Noah Allen, Nicholas Almeida, Tyler Austin, Edison Azcona, Logan Batiste, Israel Boatwright, Benjamin Cremaschi, Bryan Destin, Justin Ellis, Victor Fung, Tyler Hall, Santiago Morales, Daniel Pinter, Adrián Rosario and Felipe Valencia, among others.
