Inter Miami CF II midfielder David Ruiz has been called up to the U.S. U-19 MYNT for the team’s first training camp of 2023, which is currently taking place from Jan. 5 to 13 at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Fla.

Players born on or after Jan. 1, 2004 are age-eligible for this U-19 MYNT cycle and head coach Marko Mitrović has called 23 players to the camp in South Florida, six born in 2004 and 17 born in 2005. All 23 players are age-eligible for this summer’s 2023 FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Indonesia.

This is the first time that Ruiz, 18, has been summoned for U.S. international duty since joining the Club. He had previously featured at the youth international level for Honduras in 2022.

At the club level, 2022 was a fruitful year for the midfielder, as he was one of nine Academy products to make their professional debuts with Inter Miami CF II in the 2022 MLS NEXT Pro regular season. In all, Ruiz made 16 appearances for Inter Miami CF II last season, 13 of them starts, and registered two assists.

Ruiz is among a growing list of current and former Inter Miami CF Academy players to be called up to a national team, including: Noah Allen, Nicholas Almeida, Tyler Austin, Edison Azcona, Logan Batiste, Israel Boatwright, Benjamin Cremaschi, Justin Ellis, Tyler Hall, Santiago Morales and Felipe Valencia, among others.
