Called Up: Leonardo Campana Called Up by Ecuador

Inter Miami CF forward Leonardo Campana has been called up to the Ecuadorian National Team for its upcoming friendly matches ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. 

La Tricolor will play in familiar territory for Inter Miami’s leading scorer so far in 2022, as Ecuador will face Cape Verde on Saturday, June 11 at DRV PNK Stadium in South Florida. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET and tickets are available HERE.

Ecuador will also go up against Nigeria on Thursday, June 2, at 8:30 p.m. ET at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey, and against Mexico at Soldier Field in Chicago on Sunday, June 5 at 7:30 p.m. ET. 

Campana, who leads Inter Miami with eight goals this season, has featured for the Ecuadorian senior national team in 10 matches. He previously impressed for the U-20 team, scoring six goals in nine games as Ecuador won the 2019 South American U-20 Championship.

Campana has also earned several honors so far this season. He has made two appearances in the MLS Team of the Week, was named MLS Player of the Week in week six, and recorded the first-ever hat trick in Inter Miami history against the New England Revolution earlier this season on April 9.

Campana will join the national team after Inter Miami’s match against the Portland Timbers set for Saturday, May 28 at 8 p.m. ET at DRV PNK Stadium.
