Called Up: Robert Taylor Called Up by Finland

Inter Miami CF versatile attacker Robert Taylor has been called up by the Finnish national team for their upcoming 2024 UEFA Euro qualifying matches.

Taylor and Finland will hit the road and visit Slovenia at the Stožice Stadium in Ljubljana, Slovenia on Saturday, October 14 at 12 p.m. ET before traveling back home and hosting Kazakhstan on Tuesday, October 17 at 12 p.m. ET at Helsinki Olympic Stadium.

Prior to making his debut at the senior international level in January 2017, Taylor played for Finland’s youth national teams consistently, representing the U-17, U-19, U-20 and U-21 sides. Since 2017, the attacker has made 31 appearances for his home country while registering one goal and two assists, and was notably part of the historic Finnish squad for the 2020 UEFA European Championship in what was the country’s first-ever participation in the continental competition. Most recently, he featured off the bench in Finland’s two 2024 UEFA Euros qualifying matches in September, with Finland defeating Kazakhstan 0-1 on the road and falling 1-0 against in the team’s visit to Denmark.

At the club level, Taylor has made 38 appearances across all competitions for Inter Miami this season, 25 of them starts, while bagging eight goals and dishing out 12 assists. Notably, the 28-year-old played a crucial role in the Club’s 2023 Leagues Cup title-winning run, scoring four goals and assisting five during the tournament. Additionally, Taylor has also shone in league play, including recently earning Team of the Matchday honors for Matchday 33 after netting his first brace of the 2023 MLS regular season in the win over Toronto FC on Sept. 20.   

Taylor will join his country’s national team after Inter Miami’s home match against FC Cincinnati on Saturday, October 7 at 7:30 p.m. ET at DRV PNK Stadium.
