Ahead of the team’s trip to take on Chicago Fire FC on the road this Saturday at Soldier Field, Inter Miami midfielder Federico Higuaín reflected on his recent impact, working hard to gain more minutes on the field and the team's overall performances in the opening stages of the 2021 season.

“It felt great. I was working hard for a long time looking for that opportunity. It was amazing to play for 80 minutes after a very serious injury in my knee [in 2019]. It was really nice for me. I think I can [play 90 minutes] because that’s the way I work, that’s the way I feel [about] this game. I love this game, this is my life and anytime I have the opportunity to come here and be next to this group of players, with this staff and coach, playing for this club, it's amazing for me,” he said.

“It’s a process. We’re in search of our best version, what works best for us when attacking and defending, and it’s part of the process. What we did against Cincinnati I think is what we are looking for. We are working hard and we want to be a team that competes for titles. For that we have to work, have faith, and be patient when playing. We have to be sure of what we do, of our capacity we have to play fútbol. We have to believe in what we do and go out to the field and show it,” he added.  “This is just the beginning of the season. I want to be very clear about this, everybody here is working for Inter Miami so it doesn't matter who plays. We know we represent a club that wants to be big in this league. So every time we have the opportunity to play a game, we want to perform, we want to compete.”

The playmaker then analyzed the team’s upcoming fixture against Chicago as the team aims to remain undefeated away from home this campaign, having recorded two wins and a draw on the road up to date in the 2021 regular season.

“We look at this game [against Chicago] with the same energy we looked at Cincinnati. We know it’s going to be a difficult game, it’s going to be a very interesting game for us. We want to repeat the performance we had against Cincinnati and we want to get the three points. We know we have to improve in a few areas of the game, with and without the ball, and we’re working hard to get these things done and play good fútbol,” he concluded.
