Inter Miami visited Austin FC at Q2 Stadium for the first time in club history, falling 5-1 against the Texan side in a tough battle. The squad now looks forward to returning home and working hard this week to turn the page against LAFC at DRV PNK Stadium on Saturday, March 12.
Gregore thanked the fans, the Heartbeat of the club, for their support on the road and spoke about what they can expect for the upcoming match.
“First, thanks to the fans that came out tonight and I would like to apologize for today’s game. We have to improve a lot. We have to leave this game behind and focus on next week's game,” he said. “We have to recover mentally and physically, and work hard to make sure we do better against LAFC next week.”
Additionally, the midfielder highlighted what tonight’s result means for the squad.
“Of course after the game it wasn’t a good feeling for all of us, we wanted to get the three points. But we can't feel sorry for ourselves, tomorrow we need to turn the page and focus and improve and focus for the next match.”
Head coach Phil Neville mirrored Gregore’s thoughts about the game and underlined what the team hopes to improve on this week.
“We know that we’ve got some new players in the team that are gonna take time to gel and learn, and they’ve got to learn fast and learn on the job,” he explained.
“It’s a steep learning curve for this new team but we have every belief and confidence in them and we need to rectify some of the things we saw today in terms of mistakes that we made. So my challenge to all the team now is to recover quickly, because we have to, because we’re playing one of the best teams next week in LAFC and we’ve got to bounce back and respond and get the right result.”
