The Inter Miami CF Academy presented by Baptist Health announced today its complete roster of over 140 players, staff and competition details ahead of the 2022-23 season. The Academy, which now fully funds eight youth teams across seven different age groups from U-12 through U-19 after the addition of the U-16 and U-19 teams for the new season, and trains at the state-of-the-art Inter Miami CF Training Center, resumed training this week and welcomed 54 new players this campaign.

“After a very fruitful 2021-22 for our Academy teams, we’re excited to get another season underway and welcome the returning players and a new group of talented recruits to our club,” said Inter Miami CF Academy Director Craig Dalrymple, who is entering his second year at the helm. “There is a large talent pool of youth players in South Florida and we look forward to continuing our partnership with local youth clubs to identify and develop these young players within our system. The addition of two new age groups to our Academy for this new season will allow us to carry out our mission to an even further extent.”

Competition Details

The Inter Miami CF Academy teams started preseason training for the 2022-23 season on Monday, Aug. 1. More information about the schedule for our eight Academy teams will be provided in the coming weeks.

The U-13, U-14, U-15, U-17 and the newly incorporated U-16 teams will continue their participation in the MLS NEXT league for the upcoming season, while the U-12 teams will continue to compete in the Florida Academy League.

Additionally, details about the U-19 team’s season, including competition and format, schedule, and more, will be announced at a further date.

Inter Miami CF Academy Notable Achievements

Inter Miami launched its Academy in September 2019. These players, who are among the most talented soccer athletes from across South Florida, were chosen to sign with the Academy and positioned to have the best opportunities to continue advancing through the club’s player development pathway to the highest levels of the sport at no cost to the players and families.

Notable achievements for the Academy in its young history include the promotions of four Academy players through the ranks and up to the First Team, with Noah Allen, Edison Azcona, Ian Fray and Felipe Valencia signing Homegrown contracts for Inter Miami. Two of these players have already made their MLS debuts, with Azcona doing so on May 2, 2021 in a road match against Nashville SC, and Allen making his first MLS appearance by starting in Inter Miami’s 2022 home opener against the Chicago Fire FC on Feb. 26, 2022.

The 2021-22 season was a very successful one for the Academy, with all age groups winning their respective leagues, the U-17 team reaching the Generation adidas Cup semifinals, and the U-15 side becoming national champions by winning the MLS NEXT Cup, among several other impressive on-field accomplishments.

Individually, the season saw numerous Academy players achieve major milestones in their young careers. In total, 10 Inter Miami CF Academy products received national team call-ups during the recent Academy season, and nine Academy products made their professional debuts by turning out for Inter Miami CF II, the club’s MLS NEXT Pro affiliate.
