Inter Miami CF Joins Stream Aid 2020 for Coronavirus Relief Efforts

12-Hour charity stream to benefit World Health Organization COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund features Inter Miami CF players in a FIFA 20 tournament 

MIAMI, Fla. (March 27, 2020) - While Major League Soccer (MLS) continues to practice social distancing, Inter Miami CF joins Twitch’s Stream Aid 2020, a special event bringing the worlds of gaming, music and sports together to benefit the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund during 12 hours of entertainment this Saturday, March 28. 


From the safety of their homes, players Julián Carranza, Lewis Morgan, Lee Nguyen and Rodolfo Pizarro will sharpen their gaming skills and compete against each other in a tournament hosted and commentated by Fernando Palomo, the official voice of EA Sports FIFA since 2013 and a 16-year veteran soccer analyst for ESPN.


The Details: 

  • Inter Miami CF’s participation will kick off on Saturday, March 28, at 1 p.m. ET and will be available for fans to watch for free on Inter Miami CF’s Twitch channel: www.twitch.tv/intermiami_cf

  • Inter Miami will have a total of 70 minutes within the 12-hour Stream Aid 2020 window to participate

  • Carranza and Nguyen have joined forces to create “Team RosaNegra” and will be facing off against Morgan and Pizarro, who have paired up in “Team Heron White” 

  • Individual matchups will take place in a tournament format, with winners of each matchup accumulating points for their respective teams as well as individually

  • The team with the most points accumulated will win the team championship, while the two players with the most points recorded will advance to the final, which will crown the individual champion

  • In total, there will be seven matches played - six regular season matches and one final - with live reactions and commentating from the players and Palomo

Aside from Inter Miami’s participation, Twitch’s Stream Aid 2020 will host musical performances, additional games and special appearances with celebrities and athletes. The full lineup is available HERE


Inter Miami CF Stream Aid 2020 Participating Players: 

  • Rodolfo Pizarro (IG, TW - @rpizarro) - Mexican international midfielder Rodolfo Pizarro has an impressive title-winning record on the club and international stage, including the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup, the Concacaf Champions League twice, and the Liga MX three times. Inter Miami’s Designated Player scored the franchise’s first-ever goal only 108 seconds into the club’s second match. The 26-year-old, who is one of North America’s best players and is recognized as one of Major League Soccer’s best offseason signings, has over two million social media followers. 

  • Julián Carranza (IG, TW - @carranzajuli21) - The second-ever Inter Miami signing, Julián Carranza is one of Argentina’s top young strikers, having featured for the U-23 and U-17 Argentine national teams, as well as being called up to the distinguished senior national team camps various times. The 19-year-old scored for the U-23s against Colombia and represented his country at the 2017 South American U-17 Championship in Chile. Carranza, who grew up in Banfield’s academy system, has already featured for South America’s most respected tournaments, the CONMEBOL Copa Libertadores and the CONMEBOL Copa Sudamericana, at a young age. 

  • Lewis Morgan (IG - @lewismorgan14; TW - @10LewisMorgan) - Scottish international winger Lewis Morgan has appeared at the highest European club competitions at only 23 years old, having registered 15 appearances between the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League, recording a total of two goals and two assists. After winning the 2019-20 Scottish League Cup with renowned Scottish side Celtic FC, Morgan joined Inter Miami and recorded the club’s first-ever assist. Morgan has featured for the Scottish senior and U-23s side numerous times. 

  • Lee Nguyen (IG, TW - @leenguyen24) - Lee Nguyen, a 33-year-old Major League Soccer (MLS) veteran, has enjoyed a fruitful career nationally and internationally. The American creative midfielder of Vietnamese descent led LAFC to the 2019 MLS Supporters’ Shield and helped them break the single season record for points, as well as earned MLS Best XI honors in 2014, when he took the New England Revolution to the MLS Cup. Nguyen also won the Dutch top division twice with PSV Eindhoven. On the international stage, the midfielder has represented the United States in the senior and youth levels on various occasions.
