Inter Miami CF announced today that it has signed midfielder David Ruiz on a short-term loan agreement from the Club’s MLS NEXT Pro team Inter Miami CF II. Ruiz will be available for Saturday’s MLS match against Houston Dynamo FC at 8:30 p.m. ET at Shell Energy Stadium.
Ruiz, 19, made his MLS debut earlier this season, featuring for the First Team against Chicago Fire FC at DRV PNK Stadium in March on a short-term loan agreement from the Club’s MLS NEXT Pro side. He has also made three appearances, including two starts, for Inter Miami II this season.
The midfielder appeared in 16 MLS NEXT Pro matches in 2022, 13 of those starts. He excelled in his first season at the professional level, notching two assists along the way. Prior to signing a professional contract with Inter Miami CF II, Ruiz featured in the Inter Miami CF Academy.
On the international stage, Ruiz has featured for the U.S. and Honduras at the youth levels, recently featuring for the U.S. U-19 MYNT in January and Honduras U-20 team earlier this month.
Per MLS rules, the short-term agreement allows clubs to sign players on loan from their MLS NEXT Pro affiliate for MLS, U.S. Open Cup, Concacaf Champions League, Canadian Championship and exhibition matches.
