International Duty: Pizarro Featured for Mexico, may Rejoin Club for Playoff Match

Inter Miami CF and Mexican National Team midfielder Rodolfo Pizarro may be available to play Friday’s historic playoff match against fellow expansion side Nashville SC at Nissan Stadium. MLS, clubs and medical experts are finalizing plans to allow players on national team duty to rejoin their respective teams without having to quarantine. Players must receive a negative COVID-19 result before rejoining the team. 


“We received the news that Rodolfo can participate on Friday. He’s travelling back to Miami today and tomorrow he’ll be ready to train with the team to be able to play Friday,” said Inter Miami manager Diego Alonso. 


The attacking midfielder played in both Mexican National Team games - subbing on in the 83rd minute in El Tri’s 3-2 win over South Korea on Saturday, Nov. 14 at the Stadion Wiener Neustadt in Wiener Neustadt, Austria, before starting and playing 89 minutes in the 2-0 win over Japan on Tuesday, Nov. 17 at the Merkur Arena in Graz, Austria.
