Ahead of carrying on with 2022 Major League Soccer (MLS) regular season action at DRV PNK Stadium this Saturday, Inter Miami head coach Phil Neville and attacker Ariel Lassiter previewed the upcoming matchup against the Houston Dynamo today in a press conference.

“We’re excited to be back home. The team needs a win, we need to win for our fans… We know what we have to do, we’ve been very focused and we have a good mentality going into the weekend. We’re looking to get three points and I think we are ready to do that,” said Lassiter.

“I definitely see a hunger within the group… There is no finger pointing. We all know that we’re in this together. We all know the situation that we’re in. I think we are very united as a team both on and off the pitch; once we get the first one [the first win] more will come,” added the versatile Costa Rican international attacker.

Neville echoed Lassiter’s sentiment, highlighting that the team needs to reflect work done in training on matchdays to be able to perform at the desired level and get the results needed.

“I want to see a team play with freedom, with excitement, with enjoyment, scoring goals, playing attacking football; that’s what I want to see against Houston. I want them to get the shackles off; I want them to play with a little more freedom... They are a great bunch of guys that just want to do well for this fútbol club. They’ve gelled together so well; now they just need to transfer that out onto the pitch. The things I see in training, really, really excite me; the things I see in training are really positive,” he underlined.

Saturday’s match may present special reunions for Lassiter as Inter Miami will be facing his former side, but he remains focused on clinching the team’s first win of the campaign.

“A lot of my former teammates, a lot of my friends are there, so it’ll be an interesting match for me. It’s always fun to play against my ex team…we have a great opportunity [to get a win at home] this Saturday,” he concluded.
