Inter MIami CF forward Leonardo Campana was voted the MLS Player of the Matchday presented by Continental Tire for Matchday 10 of the 2023 season.

The recognition comes after Campana’s pivotal attacking performance over the weekend, bagging a brace in the first half against the Crew. The striker first netted with a tidy finish inside the box to open the scoring in the seventh minute, and then reestablished the team’s lead in the 41st minute through a header from a corner kick opportunity. The goals were Campana’s first in 2023.

The Ecuadorian forward produced the third multi-goal game of his career, with his most recent coming on September 18, 2022, at D.C. United. Since the start of the 2022 season, Campana has scored 0.64 goals per 90 minutes, which is the fifth-best mark among MLS players with at least 1,800 minutes over that span. Campana’s 13 goals and three multi-goal games are both the second most in Club history, behind only Gonzalo Higuaín (29 and five).

Campana is the first Inter Miami player to be voted MLS Player of the Matchday this season. Campana has now earned the honor twice (Matchday 6 of 2022), tying Higuaín for the most in Club history. He also joins LAFC’s Carlos Vela as the only players in the league to win the award in each of the last two seasons.

The MLS Player of the Matchday presented by Continental Tire is selected each matchday of the regular season through both media and fan voting in a process conducted by MLS Communications. A panel of journalists from the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) comprises 75 percent of the vote, while a Twitter fan vote represents the remaining 25 percent of voting. NASR consists of members of print, television, radio, and online media.
