Inter Miami CF will travel to the midwest to face FC Cincinnati, as the club aims to extend its positive run against the Ohio-based side when it visits TQL Stadium on Saturday, March 19 at 1 p.m. ET.
As the team makes final preparations for the upcoming match, defender Damion Lowe commented on the trust and confidence the squad shares and emphasized the importance of being consistent throughout the long season that lies ahead.
“There’s always room for improvement as I’ve stressed and we just have to continue to build as a team step-by-step, day-by-day. It’s a long season. It’s a marathon, it’s not just a hundred meter dash, so there’s no reason to panic. I’m confident in my teammates that we’re going to do well,” said the Jamaican international.
“My philosophy is just always going into every game, every session being able to learn new things and being able to do my maximum effort in order to make the team successful… There’s no need for panic, it’s only three games in, it’s a long season. We just have to continue, and keep growing together as a family,” he added.
Lowe also touched on the team’s mentality heading into the weekend, noting the team’s desire to return home with three points.
“It’s always important to get a win, especially going into an international break [because] the feeling is always good coming back in. It’s massive, it’s massive for the club, it’s massive for the fans, we want to put points on the board regardless of anything,” remarked Lowe. “Unfortunately, it’s fútbol, you're not always going to win every game, but for us our mentality going into every game is to win three points every time and it doesn’t change.”
Head coach Phil Neville resonated with the defender’s comments, echoing Lowe’s thoughts about Saturday’s fixture and what fans, the Heartbeat of the club, can expect to see.
“We’re really looking forward to the game on Saturday. We want to build on the positives from last weekend…The stadium is one of my favorites in MLS, in terms of a proper football stadium; the fans are right on top of you and it generates a really good atmosphere and I hope the players will really enjoy going there Saturday for what is a really important game for us to respond, to bounce back, and to get a really positive result, which I believe is just around the corner,” said Neville.
