Inter Miami CF hosted an open training session at DRV PNK Stadium welcoming the fans, the Heartbeat of the club, back on Saturday, Feb. 5. The exclusive event gave fans a preview of the revamped squad and an inside look at what’s coming in the 2022 Major League Soccer (MLS) season, including the appearances of many of the club’s newest additions.

In an afternoon of fútbol and fun, the players demonstrated their skills in shooting drills and in matches of soccer tennis. Players signed and gave away exclusive items to supporters during the event and stopped to take pictures with fans. To help memorialize the day, the squad invited their families onto the pitch.

Following the event, head coach Phil Neville spoke about what the open training session meant for the club.

“[It was] a real positive afternoon, the younger players were exposed to the atmospheres again of the big stadium and you can see the excitement of the boys, even those that played yesterday [on Friday] that were slightly fatigued, wanted to get out there with their families,” commented Neville.

“And I think today was another example of that and how we are trying to keep growing our fanbase with the local communities, and the local sports clubs, and the local soccer clubs, and the family environment we want to create,” added the head coach.

Defender Damion Lowe, who recently returned from international duty with Jamaica, highlighted how excited he was to have spent the day with La Familia.

“It’s important because there’s a lot of new faces…It’s important for us to show appreciation, to have the fans come in, for all the new players to feel that early atmosphere for the opening day,” said Lowe. “It was an amazing feeling for me today to see how jovial and happy the fans were to have us...It’s great for the environment, it’s great for the organization.”
