Mas Brothers, Beckham Thank Construction Team for Stadium Progress

IMCF Owners with Construction Team

Club owners Jorge Mas, Jose Mas and David Beckham visited Inter Miami CF Stadium and Training Facility in Fort Lauderdale yesterday to tour the facilities and surprised the construction team. They thanked the hundreds of construction professionals for the progress quickly being made at the site and participated in a luncheon with the staff.

“What you are building is something that is transformational, it’s permanent and it’s something that this community will remember for many, many years,” said Jorge Mas to the workers. “People looked at me eight months ago and said, ‘you’re crazy, you’ll never get any of this finished,’ they told me this had no chance of being opened and here we are.”

“I think the only words I can really say are thank you,” added Beckham. “Today is a pretty emotional day for me because I started this seven years ago and like Jorge said, South Florida was always the place I wanted the team to be. But the only reason this is happening today is because of you guys. You guys that are working day in and day out, every hour of every day, blood, sweat, tears to make this happen.”

The ownership group also honored members of the official Club supporters’ groups for their commitment to the team by inviting them to the site for an exclusive tour and photos with the owners. They experienced a full walkthrough of the facilities and were able to walk out onto the field as well.

Soil and grass installations have been completed on what will be the playing surface, and grass is being installed on the training fields. Roofing structures have been installed on both the east and west stands while seating structures continue to be installed throughout.

The Training Complex  also continues its progress ahead of the Club’s inaugural season. Inter Miami’s MLS, USL, and Academy teams will permanently train at the facilities. The 50,000-square-foot building, which will include a full kitchen and cafeteria, lounge and classroom, weight room and performance lab, hydrotherapy and treatment rooms as well as  tactics rooms and boot rooms, continues to take shape, undergoing steel, concrete and roofing installations.

The 19,000 seat Inter Miami CF Stadium will be the team’s home for the 2020 and 2021 seasons. Located off Commercial Boulevard and I-95 in Fort Lauderdale, the stadium stands adjacent to the new 50,000 square foot state of the art training complex which includes seven professional fields. In addition to being home to all Inter Miami teams, it will also host international clubs, tournaments and local high school sporting events.
