Miami will enter Saturday’s matchup in search of another victory following their 3-2 win in their season opening match against NYCFC II at Chase Stadium on Sunday. The victory featured a smooth finish from the penalty spot from captain Santiago Morales, and a brace from Academy product Leo Afonso. The pair of finishes were Afonso’s first professional goals after being drafted by Inter Miami CF in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft. First Team player Franco Negri recorded a first-class assist in his first appearance since June 2023, when he was sidelined with a torn ACL.
New York Red Bulls II, meanwhile, will prepare to host following a 2-0 win against Columbus Crew 2 in its previous match at Lower.com Field in Columbus, Ohio.
This will be the first time both Clubs will go head-to-head in this 2024 MLS NEXT Pro campaign, with both teams having faced each other twice in last year’s 2023 MLS Next Pro campaign.
