Up Against Nashville Once Again

The Club will be looking to bounce back following its 0-4 loss against the New York Red Bulls in its last match and resume the team's positive run of results after losing only two of its last 12 outings.

Wednesday’s fixture against Nashville SC will be the third meeting between the sides this campaign and sixth in Club history. Inter Miami will be seeking its second ever victory against the Tennessee based team after defeating Nashville 2-1 at DRV PNK Stadium on Aug. 8 in the last time both teams met.

Familiar Faces

The midweek clash may also feature reunions between former teammates or rivals for Inter Miami and Nashville SC players. Former FC Dallas players, Inter Miami’s Brek Shea and Nashville’s Dax McCarty will have the opportunity to face each other. Shea and McCarty were FC Dallas teammates from 2008 to 2010, sharing the pitch 88 times and subsequently squaring off 14 times in MLS action. Shea may also face Jalil Anibaba once again, who he’s played against seven times in MLS regular seasons.

Furthermore, Inter Miami’s Federico Higuaín and Shea may play against familiar rival and former teammate C.J. Sapong. Higuaín has faced Sapong 12 times in his MLS career, while Shea and the Nashville SC forward shared on the pitch with the USMNT in two friendlies in 2012 and have played against each nine times in their MLS careers. In addition, midfielder Jay Chapman may face former Toronto FC and Toronto FC II teammate Daniel Lovitz. Goalkeepers John McCarthy and Joe Willis, meanwhile, may have the opportunity to battle it out once again after clashing three times before in MLS matches.

Additionally, Mexican international Rodolfo Pizarro and Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuaín have played against Nashville’s Panamanian midfielder Anibal Godoy a combined total of four times with their national teams and several times in MLS action.

Lastly, Nashville’s Dylan Nealis may face a host of former teammates after featuring as part of Inter Miami’s roster for the team’s inaugural campaign in 2020.
