Inter Miami CF II is on the road again this week, traveling to Monroe Community College to face Rochester New York FC for the first time this season, at 6 p.m. ET on Saturday, May 14. The match will be streamed live on mlsnextpro.com.
“Rochester seems to be getting better with its recent run of form, winning last weekend away from home and giving New York City a really good go in the Open Cup,” said head coach Darren Powell. “It’s going to be a new experience for everybody out there and we’re just looking forward to challenging our guys against an independent, older team.”
In its previous game, Inter Miami II faced the Philadelphia Union II for the second time this season, narrowly falling at DRV PNK Stadium on Saturday, May 7. The match wasn’t without its positives, however, as Kobi Thomas scored a left-footed shot to notch his first professional goal as the hosts dominated possession.
Inter Miami II currently sits at fifth in the MLS NEXT Pro Eastern Conference standings, with ten points (3W-3L-1D), five points ahead of eighth place Rochester New York FC (1W-3L-1D).
Rochester is coming off of a 3-1 loss to NYCFC in the U.S. Open Cup Round of 32 and a 2-1 victory on the road against FC Cincinnati 2 in MLS NEXT Pro. Pedro Dolabella and Milan Vanacker provided the goals to take Rochester NYFC past FC Cincinnati 2, both scoring their first goals of the season.
Inter Miami CF Loans
Inter Miami CF II announced the acquisition of two First Team players on loan, pending league and federation approval. Under the terms of the loan agreement, the Inter Miami First Team retains the rights to recall all players at any point during the remainder of the MLS regular season, subject to MLS roster compliance and guidelines. The team has loaned Noah Allen and Edison Azcona for Saturday’s MLS NEXT Pro match.
Allen, 18, won USL League One Young Player of the year honors with Inter Miami CF II in 2021. Azcona, 18, was the first Inter Miami CF Academy player to appear for the First Team in an MLS match.
