MATCH RECAP: Inter Miami CF II Earns 0-2 Win On the Road Against In-State Rival Orlando City B

First professional goal for Alejandro Flores, Bryan Destin scores first goal this 2024 MLS NEXT PRO regular season; Benjamin Cremaschi makes first appearance in 2024 since recent surgery

Inter Miami CF II earned a 0-2 win on the road against in-state rival Orlando City B this afternoon after an extraordinary performance in the team’s MLS NEXT Pro match played at the site of the Generation adidas Cup at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.

The win featured a strike from forward Alejandro Flores to tally the first professional goal of his career and a steller finish from Academy product Bryan Destin. Both goals marked the attacker’s first goals of the 2024 MLS NEXT Pro season. The match also saw striker Ryan Carmichael dish out his first assist of the 2024 campaign. Additionally, First Team player Benjamin Cremaschi came on as a second-half substitute to make his first appearance in 2024 after recovering from surgery carried out in January to repair a sports hernia.

The Herons’ starting XI featured Cole Jensen in goal; Nyk Sessock, Tyler Hall, Tye Barton and Franco Negri made up the back four; captain Santiago Morales, Pep Casas, and Ricardo Montenegro started in midfield; forwards Flores, Carmichael, Destin lead the team’s attack.

Inter Miami II opened the match with multiple goal scoring opportunities, with a close shot by forward Destin in the 11th minute. The Herons’ were then rewarded with the opener in the 21st minute. A ball sent in by Sessock found Flores inside the box, where he sliced a right-footed strike from a tight angle to send the ball to the bottom left corner of the net and give the team a 0-1 lead. The 0-1 scoreline then held until the end of the first half. 

Miami then opened up the second half strong, instantly taking control. With this early momentum, the visitors were able to extend the lead with Destin securing the second goal of the match in the 63th minute, with a right-footed shot to send the ball to the back of the net after a great ball from Carmichael. The goal was Destin’s first this season, while the assist was also the first for Carmichael this 2024 MLS Next Pro campaign. 

The scoreline then held until the final whistle with Inter Miami II earning 3 points on the road with the 0-2 win.

The Herons will return home next week to face Huntsville on Sunday, April 7 at Chase Stadium at 2 p.m. ET
