Dairon Reyes makes first start in 2024 since long-term injury; Idoh Zubida scores his first professional goal.

Inter Miami CF II suffered a 1-2 loss this Friday afternoon in the team’s home fixture against Chattanooga at Chase Stadium. The match featured Idoh Zubida's first goal of the 2024 MLS NEXT Pro campaign.

The Herons’ starting XI featured Cole Jensen in goal; Nyk Sessock, Santiago Garcia, Tyler Hall, and Tye Barton made up the back four; Ricardo Montenegro, Cesar Abadia-Reda, and Pep Casas started in midfield; forwards captain Santiago Morales, Ryan Carmichael, and Dairon Reyes lead the team’s attack.

Notably, the match marked Reyes’ first start since recovering from a long-term injury, with having entered the previous home match against the New York Red Bulls II match as a second half substitute.

Chattanooga’s Jesus Ibarra opened up the match with an early goal in the 13th minute. The opponents had the 0-1 lead. The scoreline held for the remainder of the half.

The boys equalized 1-1 minutes opening the second half when second-half substitute Zubida bundled one over the line after a scrappy battle for the ball in the penalty area in the 46th minute for Inter Miami. The goal marked his first as a professional and this 2024 season.

The hosts were unable to find the back of the net again, and  Chattanooga secured the lead 1-2 in the 86th minute. The scoreline then  remained until the final whistle.

Inter Miami CF II will now return for another home fixture at Chase Stadium this upcoming weekend when it takes on Carolina Core FC on Sunday, May 19 at 3 p.m. ET.
