Dairon Reyes makes first appearance in 2024 since long-term injury

Inter Miami CF II fell 1-2 this Friday afternoon in the teamā€™s home fixture against the New York Red Bulls II at Chase Stadium. The match featured a stellar volley from striker Bryan Destin.

The Heronsā€™ starting XI featured Cole Jensen in goal; captain Nyk Sessock, Santiago Garcia, Lesther Garcia and Tye Barton made up the back four; Ricardo Montenegro, Pep Casas, and Jack Pymm, started in midfield; forwards, Samuel Basabe, Ryan Carmichael, and Destin, lead the teamā€™s attack.

Notably, the match marked Dairon Reyesā€™ first appearance since recovering from a long-term injury, with the midfielder entering the match as a second half substitute.

The Herons opened up the match with an early volley in the 12th minute, with Destin finding the back of the net to take the 1-0 lead. The forward tallied his second consecutive goal this 2024 MLS NEXT Pro campaign.

In the 20th minute, however, it was the New York Red Bulls who leveled the scoreline 1-1. The first 45 minutes presented a surplus of attacking opportunities for both sides, but it was the visitors that scored again to extend their lead in the 29th minute making the scoreline 1-2.

Inter Miami II then opened the second half with a goal-scoring opportunity from striker Carmichael with a strike just outside the box, but the score remained unchanged. Miami kept the high intensity going and remained steady on the ball with great passes and all-around play throughout the remainder of the game. Despite Inter Miamiā€™s efforts throughout the second half, the 1-2 scoreline held in favor of the Red Bulls until the final whistle.

The Herons will now return for another home fixture this upcoming weekend to take on Chattanooga FC on Friday, May 10 at 5 p.m. ET.
