First professional goal for Ryan Carmichael, Bryan Destin scores second goal this 2024 MLS NEXT PRO regular season; Benjamin Cremaschi makes first start in 2024 since recent surgery

Inter Miami CF II came away with a 2-1 win over Huntsville City FC this afternoon in the first meeting between the sides this 2024 MLS NEXT Pro season.

The win featured stellar goals from attackers Ryan Carmichael and Bryan Destin. Carmichael secured his first professional goal after being drafted by Inter Miami CF in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft. Destin, meanwhile, tallied his second goal of the season, and second in as many matches.

The Herons’ starting XI featured Cole Jensen in goal; Nyk Sessock, Tyler Hall, Tye Barton and Samuel Basabe made up the back four; captain Santiago Morales, Ricardo Montenegro, and Pep Casas, started in midfield; forwards, Benjamin Cremaschi, Ryan Carmichael, and Bryan Destin, lead the team’s attack.

Notably, the match marked Cremaschi’s first start since his return from injury; the First Team Homegrown midfielder appeared off the bench in Inter Miami CF II’s win over Orlando City B earlier this week.

The opponents opened the match with an early goal in the 12th minute, with Huntsville’s Scott Cheevers finding the back of the net with a header to take the 0-1 lead.

Inter Miami II then struck back, taking advantage of momentum, with 2024 MLS SuperDraft pick Carmichael securing his first professional goal. The attacker placed the ball in the back of the net following a smooth assist from recently signed midfielder Pep Casas in the 23th minute to make it 1-1. The goal was the first for the striker this 2024 MLS NEXT Pro campaign.

The hosts then struck again, closing out the first half with a perfectly placed assist from half field from Barton for Destin to secure the second goal, putting Inter Miami up 2-1 on the scoreboard.

Inter Miami II came out with an early attack, opening the second half with a goal-scoring opportunity from striker Carmichael but the score remained unchanged. Miami kept the high intensity going and remained steady on the ball with great passes and all-around play.

The scoreline held until the final whistle with Inter Miami CF II securing the 2-1 victory at home.

Up next, Inter Miami CF II will be back with some more MLS NEXT Pro action as the team hits the road to face Chattanooga on Saturday, April 13 at 5 p.m. ET at Finley Stadium.
