Inter Miami extended its unbeaten run to five games and has now recorded three consecutive clean sheets following its narrow 1-0 victory against the Columbus Crew.

Following the match, head coach Phil Neville praised the team’s defense and wingbacks, who have now gone three games without conceding a goal.

“The back three, plus the keeper, plus the two wing backs have been absolutely sensational… There’s a great trust and belief [in the squad],“ said Neville.

Gonzalo Higuaín also praised the team’s performance and mentality throughout the game.

“I’m very happy with the win, with the fight that the team put in…I think the team is doing better, the team has understood that we have to fight to win. Win or lose we have to fight and today we beat a very important team, the reigning MLS Cup champions,” said Higuaín.

Neville also emphasized the collective attitude that the team boasts, highlighting winger Lewis Morgan, who embodies the type of player that the Club is looking for.

“Individual players don’t win a game of futbol… Ultimately to win a game of fútbol you need to be a team.

“We want to recruit players with attitude, we want to recruit the right characters. That’s what we’ll continue to do and Lewis Morgan fits into that value that we see as the most valuable character of any footballer: attitude, determination, hard work. [It] beats skill any day of the week.”

Neville believes that the team has immense momentum and is hoping that the squad can replicate this performance for their next match against Toronto.

“We’ve got tremendous momentum. What I said to the players now is [that] we go to Toronto with the same kind of attitude [and] the same kind of determination. This is a big week for Inter Miami.”
