Inter Miami CF continues its playoff push Sunday when it visits D.C. United at Audi Field. The team will look to continue its momentum after a crucial victory at home over the Columbus Crew that began on Tuesday night and finished early Wednesday morning. Head coach Phil Neviille stressed the importance of Sunday’s match before the team’s trip to the capital.

“It’s another massive game for us before the international break,” Neville said. “The games are coming thick and fast where every game seems to be like a cup final. I think we’re really enjoying that situation.”

Neville also expressed the need to build off Tuesday’s win at home and bring that same mentality to get a result on the road Sunday.

“The biggest thing in these situations is sometimes not how you play, but it’s the character and spirit and determination. The last four or five games of the season, the result almost becomes more important than the performance. But we want both. We want both, that’s the expectation.

“We want to attack. We’re going to go for it. Our attitude hasn’t changed in that and we’ve just got to remain in control. We’ve got an outstanding group, a group that I trust more than probably any other group I’ve worked with. I think they’re ready for it.”

Goalkeeper Drake Callender, who’s diving save in the 94th minute helped clinch the victory over Columbus, echoed Neville’s comments on the team’s focus and mentality heading into Sunday.

“Every game that we have left is like a final cup game,” he said. “We have to take that into account in our preparation. Again, taking it game by game but also just really leaving it all out on the field every single game. Going for it, going for the win. That’s what we have to do.”

Inter Miami will face D.C. United on Sunday, Sept. 18 at 5 p.m. ET. The match will be broadcast regionally on TV33, UniMás and the Inter Miami App, and on the radio locally on 790 AM The Ticket.
