A WAY OF LIFE: A letter by Guillermo Hoyos

There are days that are more than just a match—they are a confirmation. The game against Charlotte was not only football; it was the reflection of years of unseen work, of silent training sessions, of dreams no one noticed… until now. Five homegrown players in the starting eleven (Ian Fray, Noah Allen, David Ruiz, Santi Morales, and Daniel Pinter), five stories that began far from the spotlight but close to their purpose. And when the second half brought two more (César Abadia-Reda and Alexander Shaw), it wasn’t a coincidence—it was the pathway delivering its answer. Because this goes far beyond competing; it’s about developing. Developing people who understand the game, but also life—who grow with values, identity, and the responsibility of representing something greater than themselves. Football teaches us, shapes us, builds us. To see as many as seven Academy-developed players take part in an MLS match is the reward for all the work invested—not only in forming footballers, but in shaping people.

Today, we don’t celebrate minutes—we celebrate processes. Every time the first team looks down and finds answers within its own Academy, we know we are doing things right. But we also speak about standards, because getting there is not enough. Those who step up must be ready—to compete, to deliver, to sustain the highest level, and to understand that it is not just an opportunity, but also a responsibility. That is why we focus on detail, on quality control, on striving for maximum excellence—on giving them real tools so that the leap is not just a dream, but a sustainable reality. Their journey must be progressive, but also brave. And when that moment arrives—when a name appears on the team sheet—it is not only an individual achievement, but a collective pride. Pride in those who came before, in those who believed, in those who developed them, and in those who never stopped demanding more.

In the end, this is not just football—it is a way of life.
