“We look like children with a new toy“ - Román Torres

Román Torres at Inter Miami CF Training Complex

Last week Inter Miami CF began voluntary individual training sessions at the Club’s facilities. Panamanian central defender Román Torres showed his delight after returning to Inter Miami CF Training Complex following the postponement of the current MLS season.

“Happy. Happy to be closer to being back to normal. To be able to train, to have contact with the ball, to be able to play soccer. God willing everything gets back to normal and we can get back on the field,” he said.

“I think that right now we look like children with a new toy. Truthfully, being at the Club is very different from training at home. It’s very motivating for each of us. Coming to the Club to train, I think there’s a big difference. Being on the field, being able to see your teammates from a distance, having a few touches on the ball,” he added.

Torres also took some time to highlight the efforts from the Club and the league to ensure that they could return to training at the Fort Lauderdale facility and thank all healthcare professionals and frontline workers who dedicate time day and night to protect communities around the world.

“Everything the Club has been doing is very important, as well as the precautions the league has given. From the moment we arrive, we have our mask on, they take our temperature, everyone in the field already has their assigned space to train at a distance from our teammates. I think the precautions the Club has put in place are very important,” he stated.

“I congratulate all those people who are working to help others. They really are making a very big sacrifice.”
