Inter Miami CF announced today it has signed Bolivian youth international Jairo Quinteros from Valencia CF’s Academy. The 19-year-old center back will subsequently be loaned to Bolivia’s most prominent first division side Club Bolívar for the 2020 season, where the defender will earn valuable experience in the 2020 Copa CONMEBOL Libertadores, South America’s most prestigious international competition.

“Jairo is a talented defender who has represented his country at several youth stages, and we look forward to continue his development with one of Bolivia’s best clubs, Club Bolívar, of which one of our owners, Marcelo Claure, is also the president of,” said Inter Miami CF Sporting Director Paul McDonough. “This is a great example of our global ownership working together to acquire quality players.”

"Quinteros is a disciplined and experienced Bolivian player we are proud to bring under our wing,” added Inter Miami CF co-owner Claure. “He is being loaned to Club Bolívar to play Copa Libertadores 2020, and we are confident he will be a great contributor and asset to our defense.”

The Spanish-Bolivian dual citizen joins the Club after spending several years in the Valencia CF academy system in Spain. Quinteros made two UEFA Youth League appearances for the club this season.

The left-footed defender has been a regular member of the Bolivian youth international setup, playing in matches for the U-20, U-21 and U-23 teams. Quinteros played every minute of Bolivia’s four games in the 2019 Sudamericano U-20 in Chile, including a matchup against new Inter Miami teammate Christian Makoun. He also featured as a fullback in the Bolivian U-23 team’s four CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament matches, starting in each one.

Club Internacional de Fútbol Miami will play all of its home matches at Inter Miami CF Stadium in Fort Lauderdale starting with the first-ever match on Saturday, March 14, against the LA Galaxy. Located off Commercial Boulevard and I-95, the stadium stands adjacent to the Club’s new 50,000 square foot state of the art training facility, which includes seven professional fields. The facility will be the home to all Inter Miami teams including MLS, USL League One and the Academy. It will also host international clubs, tournaments and local high school sporting events.
