Trapp Stuns Judges on #MLSIdle, Voting Now Open

Wil Trapp Training 5.14.20

Wil Trapp unveiled his hidden talent for a national audience tonight on MLS Idle, a weekly show that aims to reveal the hidden non-soccer talents of MLS players, by flexing his vocal cords with a performance of Follow Me by Uncle Kracker. He competed against Gianluca Busio of Sporting Kansas City, Aboubacar Keita of the Columbus Crew and Tom Pettersson of FC Cincinnati.

While the judges picked their favorite performances, the winner will be determined by a fan vote. Voting is now open and will continue through 11:59 p.m. ET this Sunday, May 17. Inter Miami fans can vote for Trapp as many times as they wish by posting #MLSIdle and Trapp on Twitter or Facebook. After each episode, MLS WORKS makes a $1,000 donation to the winning Club’s charity of choice. Trapp performed on behalf of Baptist Health South Florida Foundation's COVID-19 Relief Fund.

The show is hosted and judged by Susannah Collins and Charlie Davies, both of whom picked Trapp as their winner. This week’s episode also featured longtime soccer broadcaster Max Bretos as a guest judge.

The episode kicked off with Trapp’s performance, which received rave reviews from the judges. Collins said, “Wil Trapp is like a ray of sunshine to me. He’s got that smile that lights up his whole face and that voice is just angelic!” of his performance. Davies added, “I didn’t know he had that in him. He went deep. Well done, Wil. You were right, voice of an angel.”

Trapp may have surprised fans with his rendition of Follow Me, but his teammates had already gotten a glimpse of his talent when he wowed them during his initiation ritual. He had also given Collins a sample of his singing on her show “The Call Up” with a few lines from Leon Bridges’ Coming Home.

Musical talents have dominated the competition to this point, winning all three episodes of the show. The previous winners of the competition are Rolf Feltscher of the LA Galaxy, Andrew Wheeler-Omiunu of the Sacramento Republic and Diego Valeri (alongside his daughter Connie) of the Portland Timbers.

Remember to support the Inter Miami midfielder by submitting your votes before the window closes Sunday night!
