The Inter Miami CF Academy presented by Baptist Health South Florida has organized some exciting games in the month of December! Next, Inter Miami will host special exhibition matches against groups of hand-picked local opposition at the Inter Miami CF Training Center.

First, Inter Miami will select an all-star team of players from the three local MLS NEXT clubs: South Florida Football Academy, Miami Rush Kendall SC and Weston FC. The assembled teams will have the opportunity to face our youth playes in two different age groups on Tuesday, December 14; the Inter Miami CF U-13 team will take on the MLS Next All-Star 2009’s and the Inter Miami CF U-14 team will face the MLS Next All-Star 2008’s.

Inter Miami CF Academy Coach and Scout John Deeley spoke about how competitions like these can strengthen relationships between Inter Miami and local clubs.

“We have a great opportunity to showcase the top players in our area who play for the MLS NEXT clubs. It is a chance for these players to play in front of the Inter Miami coaches and against the Inter Miami players. We look forward to an exciting night of fútbol and a chance to continue to collaborate with our local colleagues.”

Another group, meanwhile, will face a team assembled from a pool of Discovery Program players. The team was chosen from a group of players who have been scouted locally and attended Monday night discovery games. Inter Miami’s U-12 team will compete in their match vs the Discovery 2010’s team on Wednesday, December 15. The U-13’s, meanwhile, competed in a match against the Discovery 2009’s last week.

Inter Miami CF Academy Coach and Scout Giuseppe De Palo spoke about how matches like these can help the Club further their scouting of local talent and help in the evaluation process.

“These matches are the ideal method of comparison between our current material and potential future talent. All the players participating are quality players in their own right, but going head to head against our own teams allows for a certain level of intensity and competition that we cannot replicate in training. These games tell us about players’ positional sense, awareness, and overall game understanding, which permits us to make a more educated, informed choice both with our current players as well as consideration of players from the community.”

As these matches draw near, we wish our teams, coaches, and training staff the best of luck on and off the pitch! For coverage of our team, you can follow our academy’s journey online by following our Twitter account @InterMiamiAcad or via Instagram @InterMiamiCF_Academy.
