Academy Update: Inter Miami CF Academy Named Finalist for Academy of the Year Award

The Inter Miami CF Academy presented by Baptist Health is proud to announce it has been named a finalist for MLS Academy of the Year Award as part of the 2022 Mark Abbott MLS Club Awards. The nomination comes after a stellar year in 2022, in which the Academy teams shone at top competitions and the Club’s player development pathway continued to produce highly talented prospects that earned First Team promotions.

The winner of the Academy of the Year award will be announced on Monday, Dec. 12. The other finalists for the award are the Columbus Crew, New York Red Bulls, Philadelphia Union, and Seattle Sounders.

“We’re proud to be named Academy of the Year finalists after a strong 2022 for our Club with newly implemented programs, success on and off the field, and continued player development. We look forward to continued growth for our players and our organization moving forward,” said Academy Director Craig Dalrymple

• 2 Homegrown player signings

• 1 MLS NEXT Cup MVP (Santiago Morales U-15)

• 4 MLS NEXT PRO All-Star Selections (Javi Morales U-17 Academy Head Coach, Israel Boatwright, Benjamin Cremaschi, Kobi Thomas)

• 6 International call ups

• 10 players called up by USYMNT sides

• 9 Academy players made professional debuts with Inter Miami CF II in MLS NEXT Pro

• MLS Next (South-East) Division winners

• MLS Next Fest group winners

• GA Cup Semi-finalists/Invitation to Liga MX Tournament • Qualified for MLS Next Cup (Playoffs)

U15

• MLS Next (South-East) Division winners

• MLS Next Fest group winners (overall #1 seed)

• GA Cup R16

• MLS Next Flex group winners

• Qualified for MLS Next Cup (Playoffs)

Additionally, the Inter Miami CF Academy provided expanded educational support for its players, launched the U-16 and U-19 teams, launched the Freedom Cup, and launched the Partner Club Program to continue fostering relationships between Inter Miami CF and the South Florida community.
