Called Up: Damion Lowe Called Up by Jamaica for FIFA World Cup Qualifiers

Inter Miami CF defender Damion Lowe has been called up to the Jamaican National Team for an international friendly and its upcoming matches as part of the Concacaf FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. The 28-year-old is already in national team camp.

Jamaica will play an international friendly against Peru at the Estadio Nacional de Lima in Lima, Peru on Wednesday, Jan. 20 at 8 p.m. ET. The team will then resume FIFA World Cup Qualifiers action by hosting Mexico at the National Stadium Independence Park in Kingston, Jamaica, on Thursday, Jan. 27 at 7 p.m. ET. The Reggae Boyz will subsequently travel to face Panama at the Estadio Rommel Fernández in Panama City, Panama on Sunday, Jan. 30 at 6:05 p.m. ET. Lastly, the team will take on Costa Rica at the National Stadium Independence Park in Kingston, Jamaica, on Wednesday, Feb. 2. at 7 p.m. ET.

Lowe has been a regular for the Jamaican national team since making his senior international debut in 2016. Overall, he has made 41 appearances for the Reggae Boyz, competing in FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, Concacaf Gold Cup, Concacaf Nations League, the Caribbean Cup, and more. He has been a standout for the team in that time, serving as captain on several occasions, helping the team reach the 2017 Caribbean Cup final and 2017 Concacaf Gold Cup final, as well as being selected to the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup Best XI; he played every single minute in Jamaica’s four matches at the tournament, with the team only conceding three total goals. The center back has also scored two goals for his national team.

The Jamaican center back was signed by Inter Miami on Jan. 16 ahead of the club’s third season in MLS in 2022.
