Called Up: Diego Gómez Called Up by Paraguay

Inter Miami CF midfielder Diego Gómez has been called up by the Paraguayan national team for their upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches.

Gómez and La Albirroja will continue on with their qualifying fixtures by first taking on Argentina on Thursday, October 12 at 7 p.m. ET at the Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires, Argentina before traveling to Paraguay to host Bolivia on Tuesday, October 17 at 6:30 p.m. ET at the Estadio Defensores del Chaco in Asunción, Paraguay.

Before making the jump to the senior international level, the San Juan Bautista, Paraguay native excelled at the youth level for Paraguay, captaining the U-20 team to the 2022 South American Games title before captaining the team again at the 2023 South American U-20 Championship. At the senior level, Gómez debuted for his country in Sept. 2022, and has so far gone on to make five appearances, including two starts. He most recently represented the Paraguayan national team this past month at the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, where he started and played 66 minutes during a 0-0 draw against Peru.

At the club level, the midfielder made his Inter Miami official debut on Aug. 2 in a 3-1 home victory against in-state rivals Orlando City SC in the 2023 Leagues Cup Round of 32. Since then, Gómez has gone on to make a total of 10 appearances across all competitions, six of them starts, while netting one goal during his MLS debut against the New York Red Bulls on Aug. 26.

Gómez will join La Albirroja after Inter Miami’s home match against FC Cincinnati on Saturday, October 7 at 7:30 p.m. ET at DRV PNK Stadium.
