CDC and Health Authorities Recommendations on Staying Healthy

Miami Sunrise Pink

As part of an ongoing initiative to encourage social distancing, Inter Miami has temporarily altered the Club’s logo. The Club aims to promote best practices to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. With this directive in mind, Inter Miami would like to share the following recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as well as local government officials, to ensure the health and wellbeing of its community.

Social Distancing

The CDC recommends that people put distance between themselves and others and avoid close contact with people who may be sick. This means individuals should maintain approximately 6 feet of distance between themselves and any such individual.

Stay Home

Individuals should aim to stay at home and avoid any public gatherings to prevent the spread of the virus, and only go out for essential trips. Instead, we encourage you to think virtual and use video chats to visit friends and family.

On March 15, the CDC issued a guidance to the public to postpone events involving 50 people or more over the next eight weeks. In accordance with these guidelines, MLS extended the postponement of league play throughout this period.

On March 18, Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez of Miami-Dade County signed an executive order prohibiting the gathering of more than 10 people in any parks, beaches or recreation facilities owned and operated by Miami-Dade County. Similarly, Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties have issued orders to temporarily close non-essential businesses.

Wash Your Hands

The CDC also recommends that all capable individuals wash their hands often, using soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after being in a public space, or after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing.

Alternatively, individuals can use hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if unable to wash their hands with soap and water.

Disinfect Your Phones (and more)

According to the CDC, individuals should disinfect any surface they touch frequently, including phones and keyboards, every day. Appropriate cleaning methods vary depending on the surface. For example, soap and water may be used to clean handles, tables and similar appliances. Alcohol and bleach solutions may also be used to disinfect surfaces.

Cover Yourself

The CDC recommends that individuals refrain from touching their eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands. People should also cover their mouths with the inside of their elbows when coughing or sneezing. Also, individuals who are sick, or caring for individuals who are sick, should wear a facemask when interacting with others.

Monitor Your Health

Individuals should monitor their health to take appropriate measures if sick. If one feels sick,  has been in close contact with someone who has tested positive, or has recently traveled to an area with COVID-19 infections, they should get tested. Anyone who feels sick should also call their doctor before visiting.
