Inter Miami CF suffered a 2-0 defeat to reigning MLS Cup champions NYCFC on Saturday night at Yankee Stadium. Despite the result, defender Kieran Gibbs emphasized his confidence in the team’s ability to rebound moving forward.

“There’s still a long way to go. We’ve put ourselves in a good enough position to kick on for the last part of the season. It’s important to keep composed at this time, but at the same time we need to really put our foot on the gas at the right time and raise the level so that we can give ourselves the best chance of getting into the playoffs.”

Inter Miami’s next chance to claim three points will be against FC Cincinnati at DRV PNK Stadium, where the squad has won four of its last five matches.

“The team will remain focused on what we need to do,” Gibbs said. “We have a home game next week so we need to regroup. Then we have a long trip away. It’s a big couple of weeks coming up but the group remains together and we’ll keep fighting.”

Inter Miami CF will close out the month on Saturday, July 30 when it hosts FC Cincinnati at DRV PNK Stadium, aiming to extend its positive record at home of only one loss in nine matches across all competitions. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET.
