Inter Miami CF Eligible for Extreme Hardship, Adds Aimé Mabika to Roster for New York Red Bulls Match

Inter Miami CF announced today that the Club is eligible for Extreme Hardship due to injuries and international callups and, as a result, has signed 2021 MLS SuperDraft first-round pick and Fort Lauderdale CF defender Aimé Mabika on a short-term loan for the match against the New York Red Bulls on Saturday. 

Mabika, 23, has made 13 appearances, all starts, for the Club’s USL League One affiliate Fort Lauderdale CF this season, registering a total of 1,170 minutes played thus far, and captaining the team on more than one occasion.

The center back was selected by Inter Miami from the University of Kentucky with its 26th overall pick in the 2021 MLS SuperDraft. He made 62 total appearances for the Wildcats, recording 10 goals and contributing to 28 shutouts, while also being named team captain in 2019. He also earned C-USA All-Freshman Team honors in 2017, United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region first team and All-C-USA first team honors in 2018, and was named C-USA Player of the Year, C-USA Co-Defensive MVP and earned All-C-USA first team honors in 2019.
